How We Began

Francisca Amar The Grampians Australia

Hey, I’m Francisca Amar.

Traveller, Conservationist and the Founder of Give Back Chile.

You can learn a lot by traveling to the opposite side of the Pacific Ocean. Take it from me, Francisca Amar. When I moved from Chile to Australia, I was overwhelmed by the sustainability initiatives in Melbourne. Finally, I’d found a place where I could freely embrace my love for nature, the environment and conservation.

Before long, I set up camp in Australia and became an advocate for conservation and low-impact living. From growing my own food to caring for a worm farm – there’s so much to learn when you start living life in the slow lane. And so, I became set on spreading this knowledge through Chile and Australia.

I embarked on a journey to connect the two countries that I love.

And I was determined to do this in a way that would encourage all walks of life to give back to the environment and local communities. I wanted to shift the travel mindset away from just ‘ticking boxes’ and more towards learning new skills.

Because the Give Back Chile experience isn’t over when you return home – the environmental skills you learn stay with you. They can be passed on to your local community.  And then passed on again. It’s a ripple effect toward a simpler, slower and more eco-friendly way of life.

“By connecting Chile with Australia, we have a unique opportunity to learn from each other and create a better world.”
